The Maynard Public Schools seeks a Director of Technology to manage an ambitious technology plan that includes 1 to 1 access and digital curricula across all grades. The Director of Technology will not only be able to manage and oversee hardware and software but will also be skilled in assisting faculty and staff to expand the use of technology for improved student outcomes. The Director of Technology will report directly to the Superintendent of Schools. QUALIFICATIONS •Minimum five years of combined teaching and/or administrative/leadership experience in instructional technology or information technology •Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred •Ability to identify problems, analyze situations, develop potential solutions, and work with various personnel (School Department, municipal departments, community, and vendors) •Possess current knowledge of technology, including administrative and instructional data systems, and its impact on teaching and learning •Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, town boards, and the broader community. •Demonstrated experience with supervision and evaluation of staff •At least five years’ experience in troubleshooting hardware and software in a 300 user environment. •Practical experience in lieu of formal education will be considered. SKILLS and ABILITIES: •Knowledge and understanding of G Suite and Google Enterprise Administration. •Operational and troubleshooting experience with Windows Server, Virtual Servers, TCP/IP networking, VLAN and switch configuration, and firewalls and content filters. •Knowledge and understanding of iOS and MDM systems. •Ability to analyze traffic flow on all networks in order to troubleshoot problems and propose and implement fixes. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, plan and organize work, and deal effectively with interruptions. •Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently within strict deadlines. •Ability to perform individually as well as in a team environment. •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, students, parents, vendors, and the community. •Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, assessment data, or governmental regulations. •Ability to stay informed of and make use of new network technologies, applications, and practices. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. •Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff, parents, and the general public. •Ability to instruct/train others in the use of the equipment and software programs •Strong work ethic and dedication to assigned tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES •Provide leadership to maximize student learning through the implementation and appropriate use of technology in classrooms •Provide leadership to ensure educators have appropriate technology tools and effective professional development in order to improve their practice •Provide leadership to utilize information technology in order to enhance the district’s capacity to use data for decision making •Provide leadership to employ communication technology, including the district’s web presence, to strengthen the effectiveness of the district’s internal and external communications •Supervise technology support services for data, video and audio-visual systems in all school facilities •Establish and maintain close working relationships with appropriate municipal departments on technology-related issues •Pursue grant opportunities for the development of technology-related programs •Supervise federal, state and local data reporting •Oversee the development of software (in-house and contracted), networking, operations, help desk, and related vendor relations •Oversee the acquisition of computer hardware, software, and related equipment •Responsible for managing the security, day-to-day operations, and improvement of the computer and network services that students, teachers, staff, and administrators require for the district to operate effectively and efficiently. Oversee the information technology infrastructure, including the network systems supporting connectivity for students, faculty and staff. Oversee maintenance of computer systems and servers •Make presentations and interpret the district’s technology program to staff, the School Committee, and community groups •Participate in the district budget preparation and budget management process •Advise the Superintendent in areas of responsibility and initiate program proposals and activities to improve services and/or increase the efficiency of the school district •Support the efforts of school principals who serve as the instructional leaders of the individual schools. Collaborate with principals and central office administrators in providing leadership to the district and to schools Support the development and implementation of the district’s annual goals •Provide end-user training where needed •Administer network user accounts •Perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires varying degrees of physical effort including time-spent standing, walking, and climbing. Position requires some moderate moving, lifting, and carrying of equipment such as computers, peripherals, and/or other related equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Position requires the ability to spend extended periods of time at a computer workstation performing tasks requiring eye hand coordination, finger dexterity, and viewing of computer screens. COMPENSATION AND WORK YEAR The successful candidate will be offered an individual employment contract. This is a full year position with twenty vacation days.
