The Pratt Library is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for a new Library Social Worker. The Library Social Worker is responsible for the daily operations of the Social Worker in the Library program, which provides social service navigation services in various Pratt Library Branches. This position will deliver direct client services to library customers, build partnerships with social service organizations and contribute to system-wide social service initiatives. The position is responsible for tracking and reporting on all library social service efforts. The Social Worker in the Library program is part of the broader Social Impact programming of the library. Position Information: The position salary is $30/hr The position is full-time, 40 hours/week. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm The position is contractual and does not include benefits The position is in-person The Social Worker in the Library Program currently operates in the following branches: Central, Pennsylvania Avenue, Waverly, Southeast Anchor, Brooklyn, Edmondson Village Summary of Duties: The summary of duties listed below is not exhaustive. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the hiring department or division. Provides direct service to library customers in need of social service navigation. These needs typically include access to public benefits (SNAP/TCA/TDAP); utility assistance; medical insurance; community resources; transportation assistance, etc. Provides for the development and implementation of program services and partnerships to meet the health and human services related educational and informational needs of library customers. Leads staff development related to supporting customers with health and human service needs. Leads public facing programs related to social service needs, social emotional learning, community building, etc. Collaborates with additional library social work staff and graduate social work students from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Morgan State University School of Social Work Collaborates with library-based social impact programs (Peer Navigator in the Library; Lawyer in the Library; Healthcare in the Library, Telehealth) and community partners (Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services; Healthcare Access Maryland; Mayor’s Office of Employment Development; BGE) Models best practices for customer engagement Engages in community outreach as needed Minimum Qualifications: MSW from an accredited school of social work. LMSW is required, LCSW or LCSW-C preferred Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience performing similar job duties, including managing programs or projects and partnering with city and community agencies. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with health and human services focused community based organizations and agencies; preference for experience with and knowledge of relevant organizations within Baltimore. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications, including ability to persuade and motivate and to make public presentations. Ability to work independently and to exercise independent judgment in the implementation of organizational initiatives. Position of Trust: Those under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check.
