SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This description summarizes the requirements of an employee performing in the Paint Team Lead classification. Technically proficient in operating electrostatic powder coating equipment and demonstrates leadership ability while working and communicating with employees and management. Must demonstrate the ability work with others and provide guidance to lower-level painters. This position supports manufacturing operations by filling in for the supervisor in his/her absence and interfacing with other managers and employees. Demonstrate the ability to work in all areas of the paint department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Complies with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards.
- Prepare parts for coating.
- Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application.
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects.
- Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations.
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and are consistent with company-established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
- Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility.
- Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures.
- Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment.
- Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
- Ensures product is not moved to the next operation until the required inspection and tests are complete.
- Able to perform manual color changes, perform general maintenance on equipment, adjust and maintain equipment, Spray to required mill thickness, demonstrate knowledge of equipment, and determine masking and paint coverage requirements from prints, routings, and work instructions.
- Recommend and select proper tooling for required tasks, as well as recommendproductive process changes.
- Work without supervision.
- Ensure parts are painted the right color.
- Ensure parts make it out in a timely manner.
- Able to work with other department leads and ensure they get what they need painted.
- Must train, support, and help develop the talents of others.
- Schedules personnel and workload to various machines/operations.
- Good knowledge of Epicor (ERP system).
- Works on continuous improvement and on-time delivery opportunities by prioritizing workflow.
- Works with shipping to ensure that shipping goals are achieved.
- Adapt, accept, support, and promote change as needed for successful manufacturing operations.
- Helps schedule paint line to reduce color changes (when possible).
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
- High proficiency and knowledge specific to this field of work.
- 5 years of experience in power coating application in manufacturing environment or related field.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead and manage a team
- Basic math and communication skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment. Will receive objects or parts on conveyer belt, be responsible for your portion of the job, and then pass materials down conveyer belt or to next worker.
SCOPE:
This position is responsible for having excellent organizational and time management skills, which helps them be efficient with their work. Possess good interpersonal communication abilities so they can establish relationships professionally with internal and external customers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
