Overview
Transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas as assigned. Operate forklift, electrical hoist or other power driven equipment to load or move materials. Supply production area with needed materials from inventory. Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays, or shelves. Process required paperwork using RF (Radio Frequency) system when/where available. Performs preventive maintenance such as: daily vehicle inspection, recharging batteries, or replacing liquefied propane gas (LP) tank.
Responsibilities
Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device. (Crane and /or lift truck)
Compares identifying information and using scale and digital counter, weighs or counts materials or products and records weight on tags or labels, to verify information against bills of lading, packing slips, pick tickets, load tickets, shop work orders, and address labels. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Operates powered lift truck or hand truck to load or unload materials onto or off of trucks, pallets, skids, lifting device, trays or racks and transports loads to designated area.
Performs preventive maintenance such as: daily vehicle inspection, recharging batteries, or replacing liquefied propane gas (LP) tank.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet, move ticket, or other document.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
Supplies production areas with assorted containers or pallets.
Maintains inventory of materials and supplies, and performs Audit/ inventory when requested.
Performs all necessary computer transactions.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos written in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in English in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sence understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to be certified for forklift.
