SUMMARY
Plan assembling; assign, instruct and check work of Assemblers of lower classification and helpers. Check and test sub-assemblies and units. Work from assembly drawings and specifications. Proceed with minimum supervision. Requires a high degree of skill and assembling technique, plus considerable experience and a knowledge of assembly
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assembles parts with the aid of verbal instructions, print(s) or sample parts.
- Uses various types of riveting devices, hand tools, air guns and power devices to assemble parts.
- Checks parts for quality and accuracy using basic inspection devices such as micrometers, verniers, scales, squares and gages.
- Assembles prototypes with Engineering help.
- Inspects parts for various types of cosmetic specifications.
- Where required, must achieve certification in riveting.
- Must be qualified to assemble at every station and process on the assembly line.
- Must successfully complete basic blueprint reading class.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Other Qualifications: Ability to train and work with others (team concept).
