What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biller/Financial counselor position at McCallum Place Eating Disorder Center?
The Medical Billing Specialist is a vital piece of the Business Office team at McCallum Place , an nationally acclaimed, comprehensive eating disorder treatment center for adolescents and adults. We are unique in that we offer onsite medical and psychiatric management and care combined with intensive individualized psychotherapy, making our center a great alternative to traditional hospital setting. Our eating eating disorder treatment programs include 24 hour residential, extended 10 hour partial hospital and traditional 6 hour partial hospital program 7 days per week. The Medical Collections Specialist will serve as a strategic partner within the Business Office in connecting, counseling, strategically working with and processing patient accounts.
Functions include, but not limited to:
- Request and process all bills to third party payors and patients, maximizing re-imbursement of services provided to achieve established hospital financial goals.
- Responsible for accurate and timely data entry of charges, payments, adjustments and other transactions to patient accounts as required to include both insurance and patient billing for charges incurred.
- Responsible for timely follow-up to insurance companies claims submitted in order to allow for an effective and efficient cash flow of hospital receivables.
- Record both A/R and miscellaneous cash, as well as balance A/R and maintain supporting records as per department/facility policy.
- Prepare bank deposits and post cash and adjustments to patient records as required.
- Retrieve and perform electronic billing to insurance companies in a timely manner.
- Make follow up calls to insurance companies and guarantors as required.

Educational/Licensure/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrator or related field preferred.
- Three (3) or more years’ of business office experience, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting or medical office.
- Familiarity working with one or multiple payer sources, such as Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurances.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
