McCLARIN Composites is currently seeking a full-time, experienced Paint Process Engineering Manager to join our team in Oklahoma City, OK.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Paint Process Engineering Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing paint processes to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our production lines. Partnering with our Engineering department, this position will support the technology enhancements and innovation, as the organization expands its processes incorporating cutting-edge machinery and robotics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans and develops the work of the paint department employees by coordinating with the Operations, Resource Management and Commercial teams.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize paint processes to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into process parameters.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for paint process issues and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitors material consumptions and process compliance
  • Provides oversight on the paint match and qualification to customer appearance and performance specifications
  • Assists with planning and assessing risk and mitigation for new product development (PFMEA)
  • Assists in improvement of current processes and developing new processes
  • Works with Engineering to identify, procure and implement new equipment and processing equipment
  • Provides technical assistance to reduce and sustain paint defect rate
  • Report on current KPI results, as well as developing additional or improved KPIs to ensure continual improvement of product and processes
  • Initiates and conducts Corrective Action to correct and prevent future occurrence of noncompliant processes or product 
  • Works with Planning personnel to develop, adjust and maintain prep and paint schedules  
  • Reports daily on schedule compliance, quality and through put in the prep and paint departments
  • Ensures that products used in the paint processes are in alignment with customer specifications and environmental requirements
  • Develops and maintains booth maintenance program with assistance of Maintenance Manager
  • Assists with the maintenance of the paint booth, including filters and dirt traps.
  • Provides guidance on the staging of product and materials required for coating process.
  • Handles and disposes of hazardous waste in accordance with all environmental laws and OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinates the training of new Painters, providing feedback to the trainee and Operations leadership regarding performance and timeline
  • Provides direction for Paint team members, assisting the production support as needed
  • Administers disciplinary action for team members as required
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for paint processes.
  • Work closely with the organization to implement automated painting systems and improve existing ones.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as 5S and Kaizen.
  • Train and mentor team members on paint process techniques and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and participate in process audits to ensure adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay updated on latest technologies and trends in paint processes and incorporate them into operations.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, such as 5S and Kaizen.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the paint industry.
  • Ability to stay updated on latest technologies and trends in paint processes
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SolidWorks or other design software. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Process Engineering, preferably in the paint processes.
  • Proficiency with Robotics and automation systems.
  • At least five years of experience managing a team of industrial painters
  • Experience in auto-body painting, powder coating or other HVLP application systems preferred.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sedentary work  for extended periods of time, sometimes exceeding 4 hours a day.
  • Required to stand, sometimes exceeding 4 hours a day
  • Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50 lbs 
  • Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, and use of a keyboard to enter text or data into a computer or other      platforms. 
  • Clarity of vision, working with small objects, reading small print, and use of computers
