POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general supervision of the Department Manager, this position is responsible for performing all of the detailed aspects of production planning and scheduling. This includes the development and management of capacity plans to meet forecasted sales, as well as daily scheduling activities. Coordinates and reviews plans with Production Dept. and Materials Management in order to maintain desired inventory levels, equipment utilization, and to maintain desired customer service levels. Inputs production runs and other data into the system. Performs problem solving activities. This position requires extensive use of SAP Advanced Planning and R/3, and Microsoft Excel.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Generating schedules for in-process and finished goods by calculating production requirements and applying sequence and priority

Coordinating with buyers and supply planners to organize material/packaging
availability and maintain appropriate inventory levels -
Management of inventory rotation to reduce Slow & Obsolete (SLOB) inventory

Analyzing production capacity to provide level scheduling and minimize
production workload fluctuations while meeting the customer service goal -
Identifying the potential need for production overtime to maintain customer
service levels supported by concrete rationale and justification.

Generating various reports, including: daily schedules, various in process metrics to include: daily shortages, performance metrics, orders not created, etc.

Contributing in daily production scheduling meetings

Collaborating with production to provide the most efficient schedules

Maintaining open communication with Plant Leadership, Suppliers, Buyers, QC,
Operations, and Customer Service to provide updates related to production
scheduling, including: capacity, material availability, labor, preventative
maintenance, build-ups, specification/standard changes, new products or
equipment, forecast changes and short / long-term supply chain issues -
Providing cross-functional support in determining corrective action for product delays or quality concerns

Analyzing machine standards and Economic Order Quantity (EOQs)

Plan production orders based on Strategic Customer Demand Models along with Sales Orders, Stock Transport Orders, Forecast and Safety Stock while maximizing equipment capacity in relation to available capacity and order demand.

Act as liaison between Plant Production and Divisional Supply Chain.

Sequence process orders to balance Customer Service and Cost (based on Customer priority, production (manpower and capacity) and material constraints (availability) as well as scheduling characteristics (allergen, kosher, color, etc.)

Dispatch and react to component deficiencies and inventory variances collaborating with Purchasing, Quality Control as well as outside departments such as Technical Innovation Center and Divisional Supply Planning, for alternate solutions.

Communicates on a regular basis with Production, Quality, Warehouse and Cycle Counting to perform problem solving activities, root cause analysis and process improvements

Evaluates and enters the material master data for the materials management section of the First Time Order database.

Participate in team/department meetings, actively offering suggestions where warranted.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalency required.
-
3 or more years’ experience scheduling, supply chain or related field.

Competent PC Skills - past exposure to planning using MRP and other systems

High level of organizational and planning skills

Solid interpersonal skills

Competent in written and oral communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in a Business or a related subject

APICS certification
-
SAP/SCM experience
