Job Description:

The Assistant Director supports the promotion and publicity of the college's 24 intercollegiate athletics teams. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director will be to work with the Director to develop and execute a multimedia strategy for video. The Assistant Director will have the ability to capture and produce video and photos in a compelling way to market and publicize current student-athletes, coaches, staff, and alumni and assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. The Assistant Director should be skilled video production and editing. The hourly rate for this full-time, 12-month position is $20.43. There is also the possibility for overtime.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Create visual storytelling opportunities across multiple platforms, using streaming and video technology to inform, engage and entertain.
  • Develop a video and photo plan to capture the video and images necessary to improve the website, social media and livestream broadcasts.
  • Possess and maintain technical expertise, track trends and innovations in the field, understand copyright regulations and privacy laws and recommend necessary purchases.
  • Test, repair, inventory and maintain equipment.
  • Perform system testing, pre- and post-production activities, and process video footage.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and expand the department's live video stream efforts.
  • Oversee the operation of Gill Stadium videoboard and lead creation of its content.
  • Manage video efforts for special events, including Trick-or-Terror, Tournament of Champions, Senior Celebration, Athletics Hall of Fame and other observances.
  • Maintain video library for access, requests, and historical documentation.
  • Recruit, train, schedule and work with student employees and staff to support livestreaming and video creation/editing needs.
  • Some game day management and assistance, including recap writing and statistics recording required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • One to five years of successful experience in videography, livestreaming and/or technology or media.
  • Experience and skill in video editing using Adobe software and video animation, and livestreaming software Hudl/BlueFrame, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the video production process, including pre-production audio and video recording, lighting, editing, content delivery and digital asset management.
  • Demonstrated experience in video and post-production.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of various video equipment.
  • Ability to multitask and complete multiple projects at a high level on time.
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work well independently and creatively.
  • Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends, during busy periods of the academic year.
  • Knowledge of and interest in sports.
  • A willingness to learn other skills, equipment and software relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Comfort and familiarity with public speaking, preferred.
  • Understand the college's livestreaming, audio capabilities and other technology, serving as the point of contact for livestream requests and other events, including graduation.

Physical Characteristics

  • This position requires sitting for long periods of time at a computer.
  • Ability to carry and set-up equipment.
  • During fall and spring sports, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Position may require videography from high locations that necessitate climbing and the use of ladders.
  • This position has lifting involved but not more than 40 pounds at a time.
