Job Description:
Looking for a Director of MarTech data systems. Help drive the ongoing transformation of McDonald's marketing from national media centric to omni-channel personalized marketing. This is an engineering-centric leadership role that links global marketing strategy with core data-centric systems build and operation for individual countries. You will be leading a team of 80 people, between employees and consultants. You will be managing key products within our CDP (Customer Data Platform). These products build on and extend an AWS full-featured data warehouse, and Kafka event bus.
Strong preference for a candidate who can be at McDonald's corporate headquarters in Chicago at least 10 days a month during mid-week.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead a team operating multiple squads, working primarily on MarTech data activation systems and clickstream
- Ensure our customer-centric data and activation system are fully powering our company ambitions
- Foster a culture of communication, bridging key communication gaps between teams, groups, and company leadership
- Show ongoing awareness of the skills needed in your teams, and be a proactive team builder, including necessary organizational alignment aspects
Qualifications:
Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
Required Skills:
- 5 years of solid software/data-systems engineering background. Looking for recent team leadership with historical hands-on work
- 5 years of MarTech systems engineering background, where candidate has familiarity with the trade-offs and problems that data-driven marketers face, along with a general idea of the system engineering implications
- 3 years of Data & Analytics experience. Capabilities looking for overlap with steering relational database evolution and report building. Should be familiar with basic SQL, so empowered with the right intuitions to help guide team problem solving. Advanced hand-on SQL skills are not relevant for this role
- Proven people leadership in a technical context
- Able to engage in effective conversations with stakeholders and your teams to ensure abstract marketer needs translate well into aligned, realizable design decisions. You will have teams of people able to gather and develop requirements, but you will need to ensure the processes are running well, including alignment with other global and market leaders
- Strong personal inclination to continually identify relevant areas of low understanding, and address them
Additional Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with Braze or similar enterprise-grade campaign build and run tools (e.g. SalesForce, ACS, etc.)
- Familiarity with mParticle or similar low-latency customer identity management systems (eg. Segment)
- Worked with clickstream data, including tagging, gathering and analytics, especially in a mobile app context
- Can facilitate relevant improvements in marketing capabilities from ongoing improvements in machine learning and AI technologies. This role helps integrate data science teams building marketing models
- Experience in working with data science teams in refining and optimizing data science and machine learning models and algorithms
- Experience in working with teams specializing in data quality, data security and data privacy.
