We are looking for a Manager of Data and Analytics to lead measurement and data innovation within the Insights and Issues group within CR. The individual in this role will oversee socializing best-practices in measurement and analytics, develop innovative solutions leading to actionable insights, and support leadership and senior leadership protecting and growing brand reputation within a collaborative team of insights experts. This individual will be able to leverage the right tools for the right contexts to bring data to life, informing long-term vision and strategy in support of corporate initiatives, market needs and industry leading insights. These responsibilities ladder up to support the ultimate goal of the larger Global Communications team: integrating critical insights as foundational to the growth of brand reputation.


Job Description


In this role, you will:  Serve as the lead for Data+Analytics, collaborating closely with members of the Insights + Issues team, ensuring triangulated, meaningful data are informing the long-term communications strategy for the brand. You will:

·       Lead data and measurement insights, leveraging best-in-class tools to develop innovative, valid and reliable insights. These insights will be integrated with Primary Research, Global Issues and Reputational Risk insights to inform nuanced and thorough understanding of key issues facing the brand.

·       Supervise and optimize internal media monitoring and alerts systems supporting Media and Risk/Crisis teams. In order to best support our functions, you will need to assess needs and preferences ensuring tailored, actionable processes and products are the norm.

·       Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop best-in-class, bespoke measurement and evaluation plans reflective of the caliber of the brand.

·       Socialize and support the adoption of selected media platforms to increase the use of a standard platform(s) increasing functions’ and markets’ ability to access and leverage ‘apples-to-apples’ measurement and evaluation for a variety of reputational markers.

·       Advise and support markets and functions in the implementation and maintenance of gold-standard measurement and evaluation.

·       Lead the day-to-day development and execution of a reputational tracker for leadership to evaluate progress and identify opportunities for growth.

·       Work, collaborate and partner closely with internal stakeholders across Global Corporate Relations, including Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Strategies and Media Relations, as well as US Communications, to ensure seamless integration and to maximize results.

·       Collaborate and partner closely with external stakeholders within and outside of the Company, to ensure seamless integration and to maximize results.

·       Develop and adjust processes within team and supporting agencies to better meet goals and drive efficiencies.

·       Develop innovative approaches and applications of data analytics, triangulating with Primary Research, Reputational Risks and Global Issues to best inform reputational and communication strategy for complex issues.

·       Analyze and represent multiple stakeholder perspectives within heavily consumer focused discussions.

·       Bring data to life, telling stories and creating narratives easily absorbed and activated on by multiple internal stakeholders with varying degrees of comfort and familiarity with analytics.

·      Ability to analyze multiple research approaches and products, identifying commonalities and differences, strengths and weaknesses to determine and promote the most accurate, actionable interpretations.

·       Demonstrates a deep understanding of data and analytics and social scientific research method and theory in an applied setting.

·      Experience with behavioral science concepts in an applied setting.

·       A deep understanding of the perspectives of McDonald’s different stakeholders with the expertise to segment and target in research.

·       Experience managing budgets strategically, particularly related to analytic tools access and contracts.

·       Expertise in social, digital, and first party data analysis. Comfortable with triangulating multiple research streams to answer complex questions.

·       Comfortable discussing results and interpretations of research from multiple sources and perspectives for a variety of audiences, including leadership.

·       Someone who understands that data is not just a science, it is also an art. Clearly sees the stories within data patterns and is able to bring them to life to drive actionable insights while retaining data integrity.

·       Comfortable juggling the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders.

·       Has long-term strategic vision and quickly identifies short- and medium-term goals to move the business towards long-term growth and success.

 


Qualifications


Five or more years of experience in a global communications measurement role, government, campaigns, in-house and/or agency with increasing responsibility.

·       MA/MS preferred. Educational background in research related skills including research methods and theory, analytics, computer science, statistics, among others. Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field (public affairs, PR, marcomms, public health, economics, among others.

·       Experience leading small teams addressing general objectives in addition to specific tasks.

·       The ideal candidate is a proactive, strategic, solutions-focused leader with the following attributes:

·       Experience working with insights teams, collaborating across functions.

·       Experience writing and presenting research findings for a variety of audiences with a spectrum of data familiarity and comfort.

·       Strong business knowledge; a demonstrated ability to understand business strategy and how to use communications research and analysis as a mechanism to drive that strategy.

·       Nimble and flexible in the face of change and readily reduces complexity in decision making across teams, functions and partners inside and outside of McDonald’s.

·       Comfortable developing strategy and insights and rolling up his/her sleeves to execute.

·       A critical thinker with a bias for action; understands how to drive to clarity amidst ambiguity.

·       Experience and genuine interest in uncovering unique and innovative communication approaches to build/bolster reputation

·       Thrives in fast-paced environments. Able to work independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment. Is flexible, collaborative and deadline driven.

·       Proven ability to counsel senior-level executives.

·       Is open, honest and direct but tactful and respectful in communications style and approach.
