What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at McDonough Mfg?
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is a self-driven, fast paced position with a high level of organization and attention to detail. The shipping and receiving clerk is a key person on the team enabling other areas of the production facility to function at a continuous pace towards company goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the daily incoming freight:
a) Receive and check in freight
b) Record on PO’s what parts are received
c) Label parts and mark where they go, e.g., for Stock, a Production Page, or a Shipping Order
- Receive to stock, parts that are from the machine shop and put them in their stock location, or stage them in tubs and document on the pull sheet their location
- Load and unload trucks as needed
- Build crates for shipping as needed
- Organize and box/crate up the shipping orders for UPS daily
- Deliver parts to welding, machining, etc. as needed
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area free of excess garbage and waste material
- Maintain the stock parts area and keep it clean and organized with parts being put away in an organized manner
- Responsible for keeping the shed clean and organized
- During winter keep sidewalks and mailbox area’s clear of snow and ice
- Maintain the organization of the pallet storage area outside of the building

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent, with minimum of one year of shipping experience.
- Ability to interact professionally with a variety of people dealing effectively with both pleasant and unpleasant situations.
- Walking, sitting, and standing are regular physical requirements on the job, with frequent climbing, bending, grasping, turning/twisting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and lifting/moving up to 75 pounds of parts, tools, and equipment. Ability to read and understand blueprints preferred.
- May be required to operate a forklift.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dirt, noise, smoke, chemicals, and other possible hazardous conditions (proper safety precautions must be used regularly).
- Will be on feet for most of the working day.
- Walking, sitting, and standing are regular physical requirements on the job, with frequent climbing, bending, grasping, turning/twisting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and lifting/moving up to 75 pounds of parts, tools, and equipment.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
Equipment Operated:
- Frequent use of various hand tools, overhead cranes, power tools, forklift.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
