Position Overview
McElroy is searching for a Production Scheduler in our Houston, TX manufacturing facility. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working as a team. The Production Scheduler coordinates and schedules the shipment of products to the customer, on time, and by the most cost effective method. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Position Details:
- Plan and schedule shipments in the most cost-effective method, whether by route truck or contract carrier
- Serve as primary contact with all contract carriers
- Enter all orders into McElroy’s shipping system to generate required trip reports specifying carrier assignments, dates, drops, weights, and times for pick-up and delivery
- Prepare shipping orders for loading crew and truck drivers
- Notify customers of scheduled deliveries and continue to advise customers of changes or updates
- Have an open communicative relationship with internal and external customers with the ability to solve shipment problems as needed
- Respond to sales personnel on freight rate requests and document per the McElroy SOP
- Work closely with operations and customer service to maximize proper production sequence and scheduling
- Negotiate rates for contract carrier deliveries and continue to increase contract carrier base
- Prepare and submit, as required, daily, weekly, and monthly traffic reports and file freight claims with the responsible person
- Assist customers with all Customer Pick-up orders
- Physically inspect and sign for all UPS and FedEx parcel shipments
- Log, validate, and approve all contract carrier loads against invoices submitted to accounts payable
What Will Make You Successful:
- Minimum of High School Diploma
- Computer experience including MS Office. Experience with Oracle beneficial
- Understanding of ICC and DOT requirements a plus
- Ability to read maps thoroughly
