How Can You Make An Impact
We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Research Manager who is passionate about leading and mentoring teams, uncovering opportunities through design thinking and continuous discovery, and guiding teams towards application of research insights to drive solutions that ensure student learning. Reporting to the Director of UX, this hands-on role provides an opportunity to iterate upon the current vision for UX across the organization while collaborating with strategy, product, content development, and production teams to deliver best-in-class education products for students and teachers.
The UX Manager will be expected to:
· Be a change agent evangelizing and bringing awareness to user centered methodologies and practices across the company, supporting teams at different stages of understanding.
· Lead and mentor the team by modeling best practices and providing 1:1 coaching for team members
· Support user researchers as they partner with market and academic researchers, product management, and portfolio teams to plan and implement studies that help teams better understand behavior, hone-in on product opportunities, and then build solutions that align with user needs.
· Develop and support our research operations practice which supports all types of research; market, user, and academic.
· Support and guide user experience designers as they collaborate with School and Digital Platform Group partners to help facilitate thinking, which may take the form of research stimuli, opportunity solution trees, experience maps, or wireframes/prototypes
· Help build presentations, lead discussions, and facilitate synthesis workshops for different stakeholders throughout the organization focused on results and actionable recommendations.
· Lead and facilitate design sprints for cross-functional teams. Train and coach others learning how to lead and facilitate design sprints.
What it takes:
· Excellent communication skills and strong thought-leadership. Someone who can effectively lead complex discussions and provide actionable feedback.
· Experience guiding and/or executing research methodologies including user interviews, direct observation, ethnography, contextual inquiry, usability studies, etc.—In-depth knowledge about the appropriate method for different problems.
· Proven ability to define and use metrics to track qualitative data.
· Experience writing user stories, scenarios, and requirements for consumption by stakeholders and/or development teams with asset management tools, like JIRA.
· Strong project management skills to effectively organize and manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders at any given time.
· Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 30%

· Experience applying user-centered research and design to address opportunities in both digital and physical spaces.
· Active involvement in the UX community, demonstrated by regular engagement in continuing education, committee work, and/or meet-ups.
The experience you bring:
· 8 years experience defining and executing UX research activities as part of a product development team.
· 3 years demonstrated leadership experience, including team building, mentoring, and development.
· Knowledge of all aspects of digital product development, with a user-centered approach necessary.
· Proven ability to build and lead strong teams; to inspire, influence and negotiate at all levels of the organization.
· Proven success within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment where abilities to multi-task, be highly flexible, and influence change within and across teams is essential.
· Bachelor’s or master's degree in Human Factors, Engineering Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Sciences, Design, or related discipline.
· Experience in the education market a plus.

The average base salary range for this position is around $90,000 - $100,000 annually, however, base salary pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits depending on the position offered. This information is provided per the New York City Pay Transparency Bill and the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
