What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech position at McKean County?
Position Summary:
To monitor, install, and perform preventative maintenance on the electrical and communication infrastructures throughout County Facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Daily communication with maintenance director regarding department projects, work orders, and events relevant to the operation of County Facilities.
- Maintains a clean, safe environment throughout County Facilities.
- Repairs or replaces, installs and tests electrical and communication circuits, equipment, and appliances using hand tools and test equipment.
- Runs general maintenance equipment such as lift, snow blower, and plow trucks.
- Locates and determines electrical and communication malfunctions.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, layout or other specifications.
- May train and/or assist in training maintenance worker responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Technical education, experience and/or training in the operation of electrical and communication systems preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of general construction.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electric, and HVAC.
- Prior maintenance experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must possess the necessary physical ability to safely perform the position responsibilities and be able to lift 80 pounds.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have problem solving, organizational and trouble-shooting skills.
- Must be able to perform and complete tasks efficiently.
Job Type: Full-time
