Job Summary: Schedules surgery, office and ancillary department appointments. Completes prior authorizations and referrals. Coordinates with various departments, physicians' offices and patients regarding procedures and tests. Provides administrative and secretarial support to the surgery clinical staff. Handles database management, record and file keeping and answers incoming calls. Other job duties will include, but not be limited to clinical coding and patient billing.
Education/Licensing: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications/Skills: Skills adequate to perform the above. Two years scheduling experience required in a physician clinic. Two years of registration experience required. Medical terminology preferred. Surgery scheduling and registration preferred. Demonstrates attention to accuracy and detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others, in person, electronically and on the telephone. Must have typing (55-60wpm), filing, ten-key and computer skills. Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required. Able to perform work accurately and within rigid time frames. Basic knowledge of accounting procedures. Demonstrates the ability to navigate several computer applications and the ability to operate all technical office equipment.
