Description
Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse the Patient Care Associate assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of a RN.
Primary Responsibilities:
Communicate with RN throughout day to accomplish any additional orders & tasks written during your shift.
Communicates to the RN all pertinent observations concerning the patient's physical and emotional status.
Intake and output throughout shift. (i.e. urine drainage device, colostomy, ileostomy, ensure hat/urinal is available for those who void, document incontinence, meal intake and oral intake.) Report any abnormal findings to nurse i.e. emesis, low urine output, no bowel movement.
Obtains and documents vital signs.
Documents nursing care given properly to patients.
Qualifications
Required:
Highschool diploma or equivalent.
Sixmonths experience with direct patient care in an acute care or skilled nursingfacility OR completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant program ORcompletion of one semester of clinical at an accredited associate or bachelordegree nursing program.
Required to maintain current BCLS certification
