We are seeking a knowledgeable Controller who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The Controller will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop, and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.
To succeed as a Controller, you should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal Controller should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong understanding of accounting and management principles and financial legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting and consolidating financial data
- Supervising accounting departments
- Creating strategic plans & budgets for financial operations
- Preparing financial statements, both internal and external
- Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations
- Coordinating external auditor activity
- Providing company leaders with insights for decision-making purposes
- Managing budgeting and forecasting processes
- Coordinate procurement activities
- Establish, document and maintain financial controls
- Assess and improve accounting procedures
- Evaluate and select accounting software solutions
- Manage regulatory reporting
- Screen, hire, train, and retain accounting department employees
- Maintain and comply with loan documents
- Manage benefits & 401K
- Must be able to hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.
- Review all Adjusting Journal Entries for Month/Year end close.
- Coordinate tax return review with Company CPA
- Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed.
- Must have experience with processing company payroll.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.
- Must have 10 years of experience in QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Must have 10 years of experience in Accounting.
- Must have experience working for large importer/manufacturer.
- Must be able to supply three (3) verifiable prior work references.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- This is not a remote or hybrid role. Must be able to work in our Jacksonville FL headquarters.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
