ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking a CAD designer to join our Publishing team who will contribute to the expansion and ongoing maintenance of our CAD library. We currently offer over 600,000 CAD models and drawings on our website today.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
CAD Designers work in a production heavy environment building new 2D and 3D models or editing existing ones. They will use SolidWorks 100% of their day to reverse engineer models and literature provided by our suppliers for the McMaster-Carr offering. The most successful and satisfied CAD designers are individuals who enjoy working in SolidWorks and have developed strong skills in design tables, configurations, and unique modeling techniques across a wide range of products.
Hybrid schedule: work from home and in office three consecutive days per month.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Industrial Designers or Mechanical Engineers with at least 2 years of experience drafting and modeling industrial components
- Candidates with experience using Solidworks and knowledge of parametric solid modeling
- Designers able to create photorealistic 3D models and 2D dimensional drawings
- Detail-oriented individuals with strong communication skills
- Effective troubleshooters able to work independently for a majority of their time
- Organized individuals who value a production heavy environment with tight deadlines
- Flexible and adaptable learners who can take on more complex models over time

The starting pay range for this role is $75,000 - $89,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
