Description of the Position :
In general, every Server employee will be asked to handle every task from opening to closing in a multi-tasking environment.
- Duties include but are not limited to : greeting incoming customers; working with the host station in seating guests or directing them to choose their preferred seating;
- providing a level of knowledgeable service to tables; taking food and beverage orders; delivering products in a timely manner;
- serving food, serving beer, wine and spirits; bussing tables and restocking supplies; place orders on a POS system collecting payment;
dishwashing, general cleaning, working outside and indoors; maintaining customer relations with all guests; set up and breakdown of service and work areas so they are well stocked and organized for efficient and safe service.
Servers will be organized, responsible for balancing book work at the end of every shift, and turn in all appropriate cash and non-cash receipts.
Being a server can be hard physical work, requires mental agility, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
A server must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management.
All McMenamins employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.
R equirements of the Job :
- Obtain and maintain current food handlers and OLCC / WA liquor license
- Previous related experience is preferred
- Ability to accurately handle cash and work with numbers
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays required
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-volume, deadline-oriented work environment
Essential Functions of the Job :
- Provide excellent customer service in a high-volume environment
- Safely lift and carry heavy objects with a hand truck or the help of another person if necessary
- Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
- Work in and around a hot kitchen
- Work for long periods on feet including frequent walking, stair climbing, and working outdoors in varied weather conditions as necessary
- Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting, and stooping
- Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, computer usage, writing, use of basic kitchen equipment, etc.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers
- Work with and around sharp objects, including knives
- Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing
- Complete side work as assigned by manager
