Who We Are……

McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with”.  We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants.  We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams, and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

Description:

MPI Calera machines castings and fabrications that are blasted and painted in a variety of materials including steel, stainless steels, bronzes, and aluminum alloys. ADY has been in business for over 45 years and is now part of McWane Plant & Industrial. We are proud of our excellent reputation, which we guard carefully by producing products to spec that does not return. We rely on good specs and a robust quality plan and double check quality system to ensure a repeatable outstanding product.

This position requires you to have high energy, be a multitasker, prioritization management, excellent attention to fine detail and outstanding organization skills. It also requires familiarity with blueprint reading of machines, fabrication and cast parts. Experience with NDT methods would be advantageous. Experience as a machinist would be very valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Producing quality plans and maps to ensure all parts leave per specification.
  • Detailed measuring of fabrications, castings, and machined parts.
  • Generating completed reports for every job going through the plant.
  • Coordinating outside UT, X-ray inspections.
  • Supervising the paint blasting and painting shop and ensuring quality checks are done and supplies ordered.
  • Keeping the ISO9000 certification up to date including running the audits and making necessary changes to the manuals.
  • Keeping all measuring equipment up to date with calibrations.
  • Running all external inspections per customer specification.
  • Immediately raising any issues found so they can be dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Duties and responsibilities may change at the discretion of leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years of Blueprint reading of fabrications, castings, and machined parts.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with various types of measuring equipment
  • Minimum (5) years’ experience with visual inspection of parts.
  • Ability to be part of the team interacting with employees and customers.
  • Duties also include occasional operation of fork trucks and man lifts, overhead cranes, grinders, power and hand tools, welding equipment, painting equipment and occasional heavy lifting upwards to and in excess of 50lbs.

Position Requirements

  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • May be required to work extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Able to tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs
