What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant I - Endowment Compliance/Procard position at MD Anderson?
Summary
The primary purpose of the Accountant I position is to p rovide operational support for the Endowment Compliance Program. Support includes review, research, monitoring and reporting on processes and activities to ensure compliance with established policies, guidelines, and regulations of the institution, UT System, and state and federal government. This individual may also provide support to other compliance related responsibilities of the Financial Controls Department
Key Functions
Endowment Compliance Review and Reporting Compiles, prepares, and reviews activity posted to endowment income chart fields and other operating funds. Review of transactional data includes research and analysis to ensure activity is compliant with donor, chart field, and institutional restrictions. Ensures non-compliant activity is transferred to an appropriate fund source. Includes maintaining documented reviews and providing on-going reporting.
ProCurement Card Review Performs research and analysis of monthly activity posted to the institutional Procurement Card. Includes maintaining documented reviews and ensures all non-compliant activity is transferred to an appropriate fund source.
Communication with Institutional Clients Frequent communication with internal clients related to the Endowment Compliance Program and Procurement Card reviews. Communication includes requests for additional information, requests to transfer non-compliant activity, and requests to complete Endowment Compliance Training. Includes detailed documentation of communication activity.
Other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related. One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred Experience: Two years financial related accounting/analysis, audit, or compliance
