What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perioperative Inventory Technician - Night Shift position at MD Anderson?
The ideal candidate for the Perioperative Inventory Tech will have two years of hands on Materials Management experience in ordering, receiving and stocking.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Ordering, Replenishment, & Receiving
Take physical inventory par count of Non-JIT outside Vendors daily to fulfill demand for surgical cases. Utilize @Par handhelds and PeopleSoft to perform inventory par counts for all supplies. Team with Inventory Coordinator to ensure par counts were sent to vendors via @Par, PeopleSoft and GHX. Collaborate with Senior Procurement Specialist for needed hotshots for patient care supplies and vendor concerns, such as credit holds. Interacts with vendors and/or vendor sales representatives as needed to ensure patient care supply product availability. Monitor and track open orders and deliveries on a daily basis. Communicate with Receiving via phone and/or email concerning receipts. Communicate shortages and/or backorders to Inventory Coordinator. Break down incoming patient care orders. Verify quantity on the packaging slip matches actual delivery. Note shortages on packaging slip and contact Receiving and/or vendor. Open boxes placing the supplies in an organized manner on a supply cart. Push supply cart to sterile area for restocking of inventory. Break down empty boxes and dispose of boxes and trash properly. Report problems or discrepancies to Inventory Coordinator, Receiving, and/or vendor.
Communication
Interacts with vendors and assist with enforcing the POE Healthcare Representatives guidelines. Identify and report any inventory problems or discrepancies. Report supply outages, backorders or any delays in shipping of product. Responds to individual supply request within 3 minutes in a courteous and professional manner.
Go to other hospitals or materials management to retrieve urgent patient care supplies
Available for call after hours and weekends. Assist with annual supply inventory preparation and physical count. Participate in staff meetings and in-services. Provide additional coverage for other shifts as required. Continue education through participating in least 2 enrichment classes annually.
