SUMMARY

Prepares various type of wire for use in harness assemblies and creates wire harness for use in final assembly of product.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.

  • Ability to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions
  • Ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner
  • Routes and ties wires to form wire harness used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems: Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
  • Numerous hand assembly operations based on detailed instructions
  • Utilize electrical assembly hand tools.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using test fixtures
  • Use of a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products
  • Wire harness assembly experience preferred
  • Wraps and ties wires together at designated points to form harness manually.
  • Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Has assembly/production experience and a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Attention to detail, excellent hand dexterity
  • Proficient in basic math skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, engineering drawing and technical publications required.
  • Familiarity with various pieces of ground support and test equipment desired.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
  • Access to Export Control Information.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • This job requires a minimum of high school education or general education degree (GED) and 0 to 2 years work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
