Overview
Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a full-time position available for an environmental planner to support our growing Aviation team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include communicating and collaborating with project planners, engineers, scientists, clients and government agencies to successfully navigate the NEPA and permitting process; collect and document project-related information; Research, review, interpret and apply federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations to projects; Identify and document environmental impact avoidance, minimization, and mitigation strategies; Prepare Environmental Assessments, Documented Categorical Exclusions, and related documents; Track and prioritize environmental documentation needs for upcoming projects in various geographic market regions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Urban/Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Geography or related field.
- At least five (5) years of relevant planning experience;
- Experience preparing NEPA documents;
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, technical writing, research and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following:
- NEPA and/or environmental permitting experience
- Aviation or other transportation project experience
- Project management experience
- ArcGIS, AutoCAD and/or Adobe Illustrator experience
- Environment field study experience.
- Professional certification such as AICP, ENV SP, or other relevant certification
