What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Associate position at Mead Lumber?
Truss Craft Structural Components in Grand Island, NE is a division of Mead Lumber Company, a leading provider of products to professional contractors, construction builders and remodelers. 100% employee-owned, we are the 20th largest building material suppliers to professional builders in the country. Truss Craft has been manufacturing trusses for over 13 years and is regionally known for its quality and service.
The yard person is responsible for cutting materials, assisting in the loading, unloading, and storage of materials, maintaining organization of inventory, and grounds maintenance while maintaining safety and meeting the company’s high quality standards.
- Cut and assemble orders such as I-joist and LVL to specifications with minimal waste
- Assist truck drivers in loading materials
- Assist truck drivers on deliveries, unloading and stacking material at the jobsite
- Assist customers in loading materials and fulfilling orders
- Unload and put away incoming inventory
- Communicate with management regarding inventory levels and shortages
- Repair and maintain production equipment such as chainsaws, forklifts, and banders
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Assist facility maintenance manager and yard manager as needed
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to earn forklift and chainsaw certification and demonstrate safe use
- Ability to use a tape measure
- Knowledge and ability to understand basic mechanical systems
- Truss production, framing experience, and/or long load forklift experience is helpful
