Meadow Montessori is seeking candidates for the position of music teacher. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of all strings (violin, viola, cello, and bass). The program meets the needs of children from 6 - 18. Candidates do not need a specific degree; some experience is preferred.
MMS is a well-established fully accredited Montessori program with a music program that has been developed over the past 38 years. The music program has a large dedicated and fully equipped music room and practice room.
The position is full-time or part-time, depending on the applicants.
In addition to regular class lessons, the music teacher can offer private lessons during the school day.
MMS holds high academic standards for students, which the teacher upholds. A good teacher asks for a little bit more (and never less), allowing each student to progress in understanding the subject area.
Because a teacher works closely with students, he/she must display empathy and compassion. Judgement has no place when working with high school students and their families, although mindful mentoring is essential. The ability to help a young person find his/her path and stay on it is at the core of teaching.
The teacher must have excellent communication skills. Listening, speaking and writing is essential for the job because he/she is highly accountable to the students, their parents, fellow staff members and MMS's administration.
