SUPERVISOR: Sr. Director, Volunteer Services
Function and Scope
Actively engages with volunteers both in person, over the phone and over email and welcomes and supports the Saturday volunteer teams. Participates in volunteer recruitment to attract diverse groups and individuals, increase the overall number of volunteers for the organization, and build upon the organization’s mission. Speaks to groups and organizations, inspiring people to become involved in service to others through volunteer opportunities and special projects available at MOWCM.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Welcomes and supports volunteers who are volunteering on Saturdays by greeting them, giving tours, answering questions and speaking with them during their break. * Assists with contacting volunteers for Call Connections to check-in if they are not submitting online reports. * Assists with contacting HDM substitutes to ensure they understand how to sign up for delivery shifts. * Ensures that MOW Scheduler has accurate and up to date information, frequently checks for errors and makes corrections as needed. * Looks for opportunities to engage both community groups and individual volunteers through outreach presentations. * Supports orientation and onboarding including ensuring all volunteer agreements and other documents are collected and conducting orientation and training sessions as appropriate.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in the planning process for volunteer recognition initiatives and events. * In coordination with the Senior Director, Volunteer Support Services, recruits and manages volunteers for special projects as necessary, and provides support to projects or events.
- Protects the confidentiality and integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI) according to Meals on Wheels' relevant policies and procedures.
Additional Duties
- Attends and fully participates in all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed, and keeps Senior Director, Volunteer Support Services fully informed of issues affecting Volunteers. * Assists with and attends special events held by the Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, as necessary. * Upholds the vision, mission, and values of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. * Creates a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers, ensuring that they are used effectively by staff to meet program goals. * Other duties as requested by supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of methods and current trends in recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers. * Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with volunteers and paid staff. * Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. * Strong organization and planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. * Ability to work in a data base system. * Ability to develop cooperative spirit and team commitment among selected groups of volunteers.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Community College with an AA degree in Business or Human Services. * Two years of customer service or administrative work experience preferably in a volunteer-based organization or non-profit organization. * Possesses a valid driver’s license and good driving record. * Possesses his/her own vehicle.
