Salary range: $18 - $20 per hour DOE; part time & non-exempt

Location: Morro Bay

Schedule: Mon & Tues 8 AM - 1 PM

About Meals That Connect

Meals That Connect is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to enhancing health, restoring dignity, supporting independence, and reducing isolation for every San Luis Obispo County resident in need who is at least 60 years of age. About the Position

If you enjoy hospitality and working with seniors, we want to talk to you! Meals That Connect is a local nonprofit organization serving hot noontime meals to seniors. We operate 9 dining sites throughout San Luis Obispo County where we serve congregate meals and disperse packaged meals for home delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dining Site Manager in day-to-day operations, including meal service, volunteer
• coordination, and client assistance.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and older clients to ensure a welcoming and efficient dining experience.
• Work with food to present it in a safe and appetizing manner, adhering to basic principles of safe and sanitary food handling.
• Utilize Google Suite applications for administrative tasks and reporting.
• Follow instructions from the Dining Site Manager and assist in implementing procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the dining site.
• Learn and proficiently use our client intake and meal tracking computer program to prepare reports accurately.
• Call volunteers to help schedule drivers and provide daily instructions as needed.
• Conduct client intake and follow-up assessments in person and over the phone, maintaining sensitivity and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish skills are a bonus.
• Knowledge of the general purpose, operations, and philosophy of Senior Nutrition.
• Basic principles of safe and sanitary food handling.
• Ability to report Elder Abuse as necessary.
• Strong collaborative skills with staff, volunteers, and older clients.
• Ability to work with food to present it in a safe and appetizing manner.
• Proficiency in using Google Suite applications.
• Ability to follow instructions, learn new software programs, and prepare reports accurately.
• Own reliable transportation for client visits.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

• The ability to stand for extended periods of time; the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer); to lift, carry, and load up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and crouch repeatedly throughout the day.
• Standing, walking and kneeling required.
• Must be capable of spending extended periods of time entering data into a database, with the potential for frequent interruptions.
• Variable work environment: work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with varying environmental conditions.
