Field Safety Specialist/Quality Auditor:

This position is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety programs, policies, and procedures, fostering a culture of safety, preventing accidents, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This Specialist/Auditor plays a hands-on role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks associated with field operations.

This position will assume responsibility for area-level safety leadership within an assigned area, with a specific focus on field safety leadership. This position will report to the Area Safety Manager or another designated department senior manager.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and work sites to identify potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to address and rectify safety concerns.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and contributing factors.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for field personnel.
  • Ensure employees are aware of and trained on the latest safety procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between field personnel, safety management, and other relevant departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, incidents, and training.
  • Prepare and submit reports on safety performance and compliance.
  • Make recommendations for enhancing safety measures based on audit findings.
  • Encourage employees to identify and address unsafe behaviors.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
  • Present positive solutions when addressing problems and actively contribute to being part of the solution.
  • Conduct area and job site level audits based on event trending and safety needs.
  • Coordinate injury management and establish area injury management resources.
  • Provide area-level safety leadership and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Participate in parent company-level safety audits and coordinate feedback on corrective actions.
  • Engage in After Action Review (AAR) calls and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Review weekly Ops Reports for safety planning purposes.
  • Assist with training instruction and scheduling as directed.
  • Aid in root cause identification, investigations, and case management.
  • Complete monthly expense reports and submit Purchase Card activity.
  • Coordinate, manage, and respond to OSHA agency-level audits.
  • Collaborate on support efforts with the Area Safety Manager.
  • Report daily safety experiences and inaccuracies to the Area Safety Manager.
  • Ensure investigations, corrective actions, and safety planning are well-supported.
  • Ensure timely notifications for serious events are made.
  • Create quality processes and training materials.
  • Oversee and monitor inspection and review surveys to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain high production rates to meet customer needs.
  • Work in a team environment with all levels of operations.
  • Assist with qualification and training of personnel performing DOT regulated tasks.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide continuing education/training.
  • Monitor and evaluate operator qualifications.
  • Create or update training documents as needed.
  • Audit fusion equipment checklist and ensure record keeping of calibrated equipment.
  • Perform field audits on crews utilizing various audit types.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state pipeline safety regulatory requirements.
  • Interact with operations employees to provide training on covered tasks.
  • Observe and evaluate manual skills performance.
  • Prepare and submit OQ task documentation.
  • Collaborate with business partners and subject matter experts.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 annually based on experience.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of safety experience and possession of OSHA 500, or another accredited safety certification such as CSP, ASP, OHS, CHST, CSST, CSHO. Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience and a bachelor’s degree in a Safety-related curriculum.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge in gas distribution, pipeline, and underground electric safety.
  • Must be able to travel nationwide or regionally, including mandatory monthly travel to all assigned areas. Overnight travel is required as needed to support position responsibilities and duties.
  • Uphold professional interaction, appearances, and communication at all levels of the organization.
  • Preferred qualifications include continued professional development and Quanta train-the-trainer certification.
  • Valid driver’s license, adhering to approved safe driving behaviors and following all DMV rules and regulations.
  • On-call availability 24/7 or as assigned, including after hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods with repeated lifting (Up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching.
  • DOT Medical Card and Class A or B CDL required, if operating a company vehicle.
