The Mecklenburg County ABC Board seeks an experienced professional with a proven track record in capacity-building, impact assessment, relationship building, and program management to join the Community Investment team as the Manager of Impact, Community Health and Wellness Programs. This position will assist with design, implementation, evaluation, education, and management of Community Health and Wellness Programs which focus on the education, prevention, treatment, and/or research of alcohol and/or substance misuse (substance use disorder).
As a member of the Community Investment Team, the Manager of Impact will play a crucial role in the Community Health and Wellness Grant
Program, supporting capacity building of nonprofit organizations, enabling them to measure and communicate their impact effectively. This role is instrumental in aiding the ABC Board ands its smaller, emerging, grassroots nonprofit partners to demonstrate their communal contributions and secure future support.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for advocating for positive social impact, addressing social determinants related to substance misuse, advancing health and well-being, and a deep appreciation of the important role of philanthropy and community investment in strengthening organizations in Mecklenburg County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Program Evaluation
  • Assist smaller emerging, grassroots and/or nonprofit organizations in crafting evaluation plans that fits their circumstances and resources. This can include designing logic models and theories of change, needs assessments, research analysis, goals & objectives, activities, implementation, program budget, and working with stakeholders to understand their evaluation goals.
  • Engage nonprofit stakeholders, collect data, perform statistical analysis, perform qualitative analysis, and design qualitative and quantitative evaluations.
  • Conduct needs assessments, and formative evaluations to provide data-informed, actionable recommendations that help with program improvement/effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms for tracking output and outcome data from grantees, as aligned with internal and external reporting requirements and develop reports to tell a story.
  • Evaluate and provide input on grant proposals for recommendation to the Board.
Community Health & Wellness Prevention, Education, & Learning
  • Collaborate with the grant partners to convene and create forums for shared learning around best practices in place-based work and collective impact initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities, build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders, and implement plans to provide exposure for the Board’s Community Health & Wellness Programs through community events, partnerships, and educational activities.
  • Cultivate a learning environment that can assist in informing the Board’s overall grant making strategies through focus-groups, surveys, and community conversations.
  • Represent the Mecklenburg County ABC Board at various events that align with organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Build and maintain an active understanding of existing and emerging needs of communities within Mecklenburg County around the education, prevention, treatment, and/or research of alcohol and/or substance misuse (substance use disorder).
Community Health & Wellness Grant Program Administration:
  • Aid with providing post-award grant assistance to grantees to ensure maximum impact and value where Board resources have been provided.
  • Assist with managing grants/contracts of grant partners, including, as assigned, acting as the liaison with the grantees, monitoring and ensuring grantee contract/award funding compliance requirements are met.
  • Maintain, manage, prepare, and run the online grant management system reports and provide analysis as needed.
  • Measure and report on program impact and outcomes.
  • Provides administrative assistance to grant program, including process-coordination, responding to general inquiries, reports, analysis of grant funds, processing of reimbursement request, and maintain accounting records for audits.
  • Update and maintain grant files and forms and compliance relates correspondence for each cycle.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or necessary for the full execution of the duties associated with this role and the success of Mecklenburg County ABC Board.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, community health/development, health services administrations, nonprofit management, or a related field of study, and two to five years’ related experience.
A minimum of 2-5 year’s demonstrated experience of:
  • Developing positive, productive professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Building organizational and community capacity for sustainable change.
  • Evaluation methodologies, quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Conducting outcome evaluations to assess program effectiveness.
  • Data-driven, informed and inspired program improvements.
  • Exceptional standards of professionalism, integrity and honesty, and commitment to quality in all aspects of work
Preferred:
  • A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience working within nonprofit sector in philanthropy as a grant maker, grants administrator, and/or grant writer.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively—orally and in writing—to diverse audiences and in a variety of contexts.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, legal documents, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the mission, vision, and values of the Board and the Community Health & Wellness Programs and be able to express them clearly, both internally and externally
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be proficient in Windows, Google, Microsoft Office, Outlook, database software, Zoom or other virtual meeting platform, and internet use.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, and volume.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be highly self-directed and a self-starter. Requires a professional demeanor, strong analytical, time management, customer service and organizational skills, excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. Must have professional proficiency in excel spreadsheets and word processing software and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed and create reports from these sources. Comprehensive understanding of Board's goals and objectives, and ability to impart these to other employees and community at large. Basic knowledge of North Carolina ABC laws, rules, and regulations. Must maintain a valid North Carolina drivers' license. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Exhibit a genuine curiosity and interest in the mission of the Board and its grantees, along with a commitment to continuous learning.

The incumbent reports to the Community Investment Program Director.
