Ensuring a pleasant dining experience,* The Coffee Shop Assistant* is responsible for the preparation, set-up and service of food in our Coffee Shop. This position interacts directly with residents, staff, visitors and guests in a courteous and cooperative manner while following company policies and procedures. Included responsibilities involve following safe food handling, housekeeping of the coffee shop, handling our point-of-sale system and other duties as assigned.

Requisite Requirements:

• (Preferred) Six months to one year of food service experience in a cafeteria or retail setting, or equivalent education and experience.
• Must be able to perform simple mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of safe food handling practices in compliance with governing regulations. Certification preferred.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of point-of-sale systems.

Must reflect a high degree of respect, sensitivity, patience and tolerance.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis walk, bends, lifts, stoops and stands the majority of the shift.
• Work is performed primarily in the coffee shop, main kitchen and storage areas.
• Work involves retrieval of items from various storage locations, refrigeration and freezer units.
• Work areas may have a wide range of temperature variations.
• Duties involve lifting, bending, stooping, or stretching in order to prepare and serve food, maintain work area, or retrieve items from storage.
• Duties involve use and operation of food preparation and handling equipment.
• Annual Flu vaccination required
