William Harris, Dr. Thomas Foster and Dr. Hampton Lefler.Our highly trained team of eight board certified ophthalmologists and three board eligible physicians includes six fellowship trained sub-specialists. Our practice is proudly focused on the following services: comprehensive eye care, cataracts, glaucoma, refractive procedures (iLASIK), corneal disorders, retina disorders, pediatric vision disorders, oculo-facial plastics (functional and aesthetic services) and optical. It is our pleasure to treat patients and provide the best quality care possible and are honored that so many have entrusted us with that responsibility!Job DescriptionSupervises and directs patient care in a single operating room.DutiesParticipates as a team member in support of the total perioperative processOrganizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case managementSupervises and directs patient care in a single operating roomOrganizes nursing activities efficiently and effectivelyDelegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff membersConsiders cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover timeAssists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availabilityAddresses patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient settingTransports patients to the operating room observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needsIdentifies the patient and correct surgical intervention according to policy/procedure and communicates such information to all members of the surgical teamReviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team membersProvides comfort and reassurance to patientMaintains patients’ privacy and dignityExplains intraoperative phase of routine procedures and care to the patientPerforms the circulating nurse’s role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled proceduresPrepares operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performedAssembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure and positions and adjusts equipment as required during the procedureAnticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesiaAssists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established proceduresMonitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standardsAssists with identification and confirmation of operative siteProvides for comfort in the physical environment by monitoring designated parametersProvides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordinglyResponds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physicianAccurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders/directionsDocuments patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and proceduresAccurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about patient’s statusQualificationsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to work in a cooperative working environment; maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward co-workers, management, patients, visitors, and physiciansAbility to make decisions and solve problemsLeadership qualitiesAbility to communicate in English language, both verbal and written Education & ExperienceHigh school graduate or GED certificate recipientGraduate of accredited school of nursingRN with active license in appropriate stateBLS certifiedACLS certification within one year of permanent employmentPreferredWorking experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting Computer literacyAdditional InformationPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
