Responsible for assisting patient in preparation of the physician’s examination. Performs all needed patient triage and assessment, education and follow up requested by the physician and maintains appropriate records. Must be knowledgeable of insurance carriers, especially HMO. Performs triage and patient assessment.
- Take patient vitals as needed.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician.
- Assist in the performance of clinical office procedures.
- Provides patient education as required.
- Assists in the follow-up of patient test results and instructions for further follow-up.
- Administers medication as prescribed by the physician’s orders and maintains log on medications.
- Scheduling and pre-certification as needed on tests ordered by the physician (CT, MRI, PET, etc.)
- Maintains charts and dictation for assigned physician.
- Take patient phone messages for the physician and follow-up calls to the patient as required.
- Provides a safe and clean environment for the provision of patient care.
- Performs tasks or responsibilities of the Lab and X-Ray (if certified) Technologist as needed.
- Orders medical supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
