Position Summary
Responsible for running the day-to-day activities of medical practice. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates objectives to produce a smooth-running office with optimum revenue production. Acts as a liaison for physician(s), staff, and Administration.
Position Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates pharmacy medications, and directs the medical practice’s daily operations to maximize opportunities for growth and income.
- Assures that policies and procedures regarding medical records, accounts receivable, inventory, licenses, personnel, and property management are properly carried out.
- Assures that on the job, in-service training, and orientation are conducted at the office or at Training for new and previous employees as needed.
- Supervise, recruits and selects competent clerical, professional and auxiliary personnel.
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis, and a calm environment throughout the practice.
- Interacts effectively with patients and other members of the organization to maintain good public relations.
- Manages scheduling for personnel staffing for adequate coverage for any absences.
- Ensures that the following functions are performed: time punch approval, employee evaluations and counseling to Human Resources, oversees ordering of medical supplies/drugs, maintenance, and repairs of office, and prepares purchase orders and invoices for payment to accounts payable.
- Follows the Quarterly ASP Payment Oncology Report
- Ensures necessary financial information and monthly management reports are supplied to physicians from the Revenue Cycle Management and Administration.
- Assists physicians and employees when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2-5 years supervisor or management experience in a hematology/oncology setting with medical terminology, medical insurance billing and computer experience preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance carrier payment policies, practices, and amounts.
- Knowledge of Athena, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and CMS Drug Pricing is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written organizational skills, with ability to be flexible and deal effectively with staff, physicians, and patients.
- Must be able to delegate workloads.
- Handles interruptions and unpredictable situations.
- Must show good judgment regarding confidentiality policy.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Flexible to handle unexpected daily challenges
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer operating skills.
- Able to use 10 keys by touch.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. On occasions, be able to help properly move a patient. Be able to lift to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
