What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Specialist position at Medix Infusion?
Medix Infusion provides personalized home and in suite infusion therapy services for patients with chronic or acute conditions. Our expert team is dedicated to making each patient’s journey as easy as possible. We provide medical infusion therapies, including anti-infectives, biologics, IVIG, and other injectable and infusion treatments.
Medix Infusion's Mission: To connect chronically ill and high-acuity patients with infusion therapy by providing convenient, compassionate care within rural, suburban, and other under-served communities.
We have a team-orientated career opportunity as a full-time Intake Coordinator. The Intake Specialist is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the timely evaluation and acceptance of patients referred for service to Medix.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Assist in coordinating services for patients in a timely manner
- Enter new patient data into EHR system.
- Receive medication referrals and collects information from case managers, referral portals, fax, email and customer calls.
- Coordinate with pharmacy to expedite and ensure accurate medication for patient when they arrive at our clinic.
- Contact referral source, patient and doctor's office to obtain information required to complete patient chart and authorization for service.
- Place outbound calls to patients and physicians to notify of any delays or issues with services.
- Takes infusion therapy referrals from referral sources.· Ensures that all intake forms are complete and accurate.
- Obtains authorizations and re-authorizations as required by payers.·
- Communicates with Nurse Practitioner and Pharmacy regarding the status of referrals.
- Notifies patients/families regarding coverage and payment responsibilities.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum two (2) years of experience collecting referral information in the healthcare market
- Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance companies
- Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures
- Understands the scope of services that Amerita can provide
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
