**Position Summary:**
The Laboratory Assistant role supports laboratory operations by maintaining equipment, preparing supplies, and assisting with research projects as directed by senior staff. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, glassware washing, reagent preparation, refractive index liquid requalification, and inventory management to meet the scientific and operational needs.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Maintain professionalism, positive attitude, and effective communication with clients and colleagues.
2. Prepare and stock laboratory and cleanroom supplies according to established procedures and quality standards.
3. Prepare microanalysis tools as per established procedures and quality standards.
4. Requalify refractive index liquids as required following established procedures and quality standards.
5. Utilize and maintain small equipment (e.g., balances, pH meters) per established procedures and quality standards.
6. Wash glassware, prepare reagents, and assemble supplies under the direction of staff scientists for client projects.
7. Perform general laboratory housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned.
**Additional Responsibilities:**
1. Assist with sample preparation and analysis under the direction of staff scientists.
2. Support special studies and research projects under senior department or scientific staff guidance.
3. Summarize data under the direction of staff scientists.
**Competence Requirements:**
**Education:**
High School Diploma
**Experience:**
Some experience in a laboratory environment required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and demonstrated organizational skills are essential.
**Training and Competency Expectations:**
1. Complete new hire and technical training per SOP-GEN-0001 and departmental SOPs, covering policies such as Business Ethics, Drug Free Workforce, Security, and Sexual Harassment.
2. Understand and apply Quality Management System and regulatory requirements relevant to assigned responsibilities.
3. Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements related to job duties.
4. Receive technical training for primary responsibilities.
