Job Summary:

The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist will be responsible for managing the onboarding of accounts to ensure accurate and timely billing of patient accounts. The candidate will work closely with the billing and coding teams to assist with the medical billing and coding process and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the onboarding of accounts to ensure accurate and timely billing of patient accounts.
• Provide assistance to billing and coding teams to ensure all claims are submitted correctly and in a timely manner.
• Review medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing of services.
• Assist with the resolution of billing issues and follow up with insurance companies and patients as needed.
• Stay up to date with changes in billing and coding regulations and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate with doctors' offices to ensure the accuracy of patient information and billing codes.
• Participate in the training and development of billing and coding staff.
• Generate reports on the status of accounts, including outstanding balances and claim denials.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical billing and coding in a physician's office.
• Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing experience, required.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures.
• Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health records.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving billing issues and errors.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions: The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist will work in an office environment and may be required to sit for extended periods of time. The candidate may need to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to ensure timely completion of tasks.
