Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
Bachelor’s, Certificate, basic level Master’s degree or entry level Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Professional competency as a general practitioner of Physical Therapy.
Demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches.May be developing advanced level competencies in one or more aspects of Physical Therapy.
Five years clinical experience in rehabilitation or acute care recommended, two years as senior or equivalent recommended2 advanced CE/Certification in area of expertise.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
CLINICAL SERVICES & DOCUMENTATION: Provides effective and efficient care. • Demonstrates ability to complete evaluation and treatment in area of specialty with moderate to complex patients• Completes a minimum of cardiac, orthopedic, stroke and basic ICU competencies and an additional 2 competencies if these are not your area of specialty• Demonstrates autonomy in clinical practice and clinical reasoning is guided by analytical and/or intuitive processes to maximize patient outcomes and safety.• Maintains accurate and timely documentation to include clinical interventions provided, discharge and equipment recommendations, charges, and discharge recommendations. • Writes legible progress notes or other documentation which accurately reflects treatment received. • Accurately reports type of services provided to each patient daily and submits in a timely manner.
PRODUCTIVITY AND TIME MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Meets productivity targets for work area established by supervisor. Adheres to a schedule. Is timely, punctual and is prepared for meetings.
TEAM/DEPARTMENT INVOLVEMENT: Participates in department/service/ team specific decision making and problem solving that impacts patient care. • Leads program development in area of specialty collaborating with Senior and Management• Develops and/or reviews clinical protocols in area of specialty practice• Participates in team conferences and family conferences as appropriate.• Collaborates interventions with other team members using an interdisciplinary approach. • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, task force, special project, evidence based practice (EBP) project, action planning or research that impacts patient care.
DEVELOPMENT: Participates in development activities for continued professional growth for self and staff under their supervision. • Takes responsibility for staff under their supervision including but not limited to providing regular feedback during individual or team meetings, completing co-treatments to develop staff competence, and contributing feedback for mid-year and annual performance appraisals• Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self in area of specialty and others under their supervision.• Actively supports the department goals and mission and assists in achieving the strategic plan including generating ideas and solutions to managing department needs• Participates in development and implementation of goals/objectives for the program area as delegated by Clinical Supervisor or Management. • Participates in clinical, administrative and program development including but not limited to data collection, and improvement implementation to assure quality outcomes.• Leads or collaborates with others peer on process improvement initiatives on a regular basis and for special projects as assigned. • Under guidance of management, acts as a resource to staff outside the department in area of specialty.• Shows interest in broadening knowledge in areas outside clinical practice (i.e. management or other courses)
MENTORSHIP and LEADERSHIP:• Works to assist assigned staff meet individual goals• Leads in-services and contributes to staff training in area of specialty • Reviews and develops department clinical policies with Management in area of clinical specialty• Initiates/plans special projects within area of clinical specialty• Serves as a resource outside department in area of clinical specialty• Assists Clinical Supervisor with team supervision and management. Fulfills duties of Clinical Supervisor as neededParticipates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
