Job Summary
 
Oversees the study activities of complex and/or multiple research projects with the fair and responsible conduct of research. Responsibilities may include coordinating research studies, study design, grant preparation, participant recruitment, quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, data and/or image analysis, database management, data dissemination, review summaries, drafting manuscripts, and ensuring up-to-date regulatory approvals.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
Education/Training Bachelor’s Degree in a health, science, or other related field and/or equivalent experience such that the objectives of the position are equaled. Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
 
Experience 3 years of previous work experience in a research setting or related field.
 
License/Certification/Registration No special certification, registration or licensure required.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Must be a flexible, highly motivated, dedicated individual who is capable of working both independently and on various team projects in a diverse setting. Must be able to demonstrate successful track record using his/her analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
 
1. Independently coordinates and manages the logistics and operations of research projects, and oversees logistics to keep on schedule.
2. Develops measurements and performs quantitative and qualitative data collection, data entry, and analysis functions for research projects.
3. Participates as a member of project teams through presenting ideas and strategies; develops and maintains a working relationship with all collaborators and associates.
4. Designs and conducts literature reviews as needed.
5. Creates reports and drafts manuscripts as needed.
6. Develops and maintains databases, including individual databases for ongoing research projects, on computer based networks and related databases.
7. Prepares research protocols for regulatory review and approval and coordinates submissions.
8. Prepares timely reports as required under approved protocols, as required. 
9. Develops a resource list of funding agencies with due dates for submission of applications; assists with the preparation of grant applications as needed.
10. Drafts reports to funding organizations and collaborators as needed.
11. Attends internal and external meetings, as a representative of the team and its mission.
12. Consistently demonstrates support for compliance in the performance of job duties and responsibilities by a) developing and maintaining knowledge of, and performing job functions in compliance with, rules, regulations, policies, and statutes that affect his/her job; b) maintaining knowledge of and performing job functions in compliance with MedStar Health and MedStar Health Research Institute policies and procedures; and c) reporting compliance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
13. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
14. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
