The Calibration/Metrology Technician III will provide calibration, inspection, and repair of test and measurement equipment in research, development, and manufacturing environments in the Electronic Calibration Laboratory within the Metrology Department for Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure at Medtronic's Mounds View Minnesota site.

A Day in the Life
As the Calibration/Metrology Technician III, you will:
- Perform calibrations and measurements traceable to the International System of Units (SI) using appropriate reference standards.
- Test measurement equipment range from general-purpose electronic or electrical test equipment to custom built automated manufacturing test consoles in the following disciplines: Frequency & Time, DC Voltage, AC Voltage, Resistance, Capacitance, Inductance, and Current.
- Review Calibration Supplier Calibration Certificates to be in compliance with Z540 and IO 17025 requirements.
- Apply Measurement Guard-banding techniques as appropriate.
- Generate Out of Tolerance Reports as necessary.
- Communicate with Suppliers to resolve Certificate issues.
- Design, test, verify, and implement automated calibration software procedures using LabWindows.
- Work with automated calibration software to perform calibrations using IEEE488, GPIB, Serial, Ethernet, and USB test connections.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing engineering, and production operations to develop and implement the equipment and methods to test or manufacturer product.
- Provide on-site calibration support for equipment that is either too sensitive to move or is too large and not feasible to relocate.
- Work overtime when necessary to support high priority requests or meet project goals.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Nice to Have
- Two years technical school training (60 semester credits) in metrology and calibration, or equivalent military education training.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician rating.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with principles and practices of metrology/calibration including: electronic and electronic calibrations, calibration tracking, and documentation software systems.
- Strong math and physics background.
- Experience with statistics and methods of assessing measurement uncertainty and measuring decision risk.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Windows OS.
- Working knowledge of and experience with automated calibration software procedures using LabWindows, Labview, Fluke MetCal, or similar environment.
- Experience with calibration equipment standards to include test uncertainty ratio and test accuracy ratio analysis along with measurement guard-banding techniques.
- Familiar with these regulations: FDA 21 CFR Part 820 cGMP, ISO 13485, ISO 10012, and ISO 17025.
