The Engineering Director for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) leads a global team of Industrial Process Engineers MES, Engineering Project Managers and an implementation organization. In this role, you are responsible for driving global MES template(s), scope, best practices, and overall strategy for the Manufacturing Execution Systems. You will manage, coordinate, and coach technical project managers and partner with functional stakeholders to ensure expected outcomes realization from MES investment. Engaging and influential leadership qualities are crucial as is strong manufacturing experience inclusive of digital manufacturing such as industry 4.0 and smart factory. Deep knowledge of production line systems, MES systems and the end-to-end production process. As Engineering Director Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), you are a key asset within the overall Operational Technology & Digitalization organization, contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing digital transformation by creating the foundation.

A Day in the Life
- Collaborate with business/functional partners, plant network leaders and technology leadership teams to define strategic and tactical roadmap for MES initiatives
- Articulate appropriate strategic directions and ensure local plant management needs are incorporated in the strategy
- Overall responsible for the design, build, development, and operations for global MES system used by Manufacturing.
- Evangelize new opportunities possible with MES technology investment
- Help define and prioritize projects targeted to deliver most business value
- Manage financial and resourcing constraints; define budgets and targets for individual projects and annual plans for strategic programs
- Outline multi-generational project strategy aligned to deliver on the expected outcomes
- Coordinate internal IT and vendor Technical Project Managers executing various projects across multiple manufacturing sites
- Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with leadership of technical and functional teams internal & external to the organization to ensure sufficient support and engagement
- Manage executive stakeholder communication and progress reporting
- Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics against service level. Ensure lessons learned are collected
- Masters / Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with minimum of 10 years of professional experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience overseeing large scale MES deployments
- Minimum 7 years of manegerial experience with 5 years as a People Leader
Nice to Have
- Fluent in English, any other European language is a strong asset
- Passionate about manufacturing operations and smart factory in a global context and a have a proven track record
- Manufacturing Domain Knowledge & Experience (Medical Devices; FDA Regulated)
- Strong leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, preferable with operational excellence / lean manufacturing experience
- MES Experience (ISA95 Standard), experience in one or more commercial MES Products preferably Critical Manufacturing MES
- MES Functional & Technical Knowledge, including machine & equipment integration to support automation and data collection
- Proven experience in defining MES strategies, requirement development, design and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines in a global context
- Proven track record in large scale project management in a multi-site MES deployment environment through the definition of clear scope, targets, executing a plan, and delivering results
- Experience in building, mentoring and coaching a team of manufacturing Industrial MES Engineers
- Ability to plan and provide structure and organization in a fast paced, changing environment
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing across a complex, global matrix organization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
