This is an exciting opportunity to join Medtronic's Structural Heart and Aortic operating unit to work with a passionate team focused on early phase technology strategic exploration, exploratory proof of principle work and product development excellence. The engineer will use their high level technical skills to advance the development of an innovative product to treat aortic disease.
A Day in the Life

Support the design and development and testing of innovative new products within the Structural Heart and Aortic business.

Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in working on complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions using computational models.

Implement general mechanical design and solid mechanics fundamentals to drive the development of products used in the treatment of vascular disease.

Provide technical input supporting submissions to regulatory bodies and governmental agencies.

Perform competitive product analysis and generate intellectual property and aid in the evaluation of intellectual property.

Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as the primary design and optimization tool for the development of innovative products.

Conduct Mechanical and Physics-based computational analysis, including FEA, Multiphysics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Fluid Structure Interaction to analyze mechanical designs and interactions.

Utilize results to help design and develop new products, test methods and integrate new materials and processes.

Demonstrate technical problem-solving capabilities.

Apply advanced scientific and engineering principles and theories such as solid mechanics and mechanical design to solve complex technical problems and develop solutions.

Prepare reports and presentation to communicate technical assessments and analysis results.

Analyze geometric dimensioning and tolerancing using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (SolidWorks) to assess manufacturability.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Biomedical or related Engineering Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
OR
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Biomedical or related Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have

Advanced Degree in Engineering Discipline

Previous medical device experience

Thorough understanding of Reliability Engineering and Predictive modeling and statistical methods

Demonstrated aptitude for assessing emerging technologies

Demonstrated business acumen, executive presence, and communication skills

Proven skills in quantitative analysis and data-driven decision making

Experience with conducting strategic brainstorm sessions and ideation activities

Experienced in intellectual property fundamentals and strategic planning

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a dynamic environment
