What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treasury Analyst – Capital Markets position at Medtronic?
Team is currently working hybrid model and will be based onsite 2-3 days/week in Fridley, MN.

Treasury is responsible for global financing strategies and execution, capital structure recommendations, foreign currency considerations, treasury operations, investment programs for the Company's cash, trust and pension assets, and interest rate risk management. Specifically, the Capital Markets team serves as an advocate for the company to fixed income investors (our debt holders), commercial and investment banks, and the rating agencies. We also work with senior leaders to advise on return to shareholders through dividend policy and share repurchases.
This position assists in providing financial support and partnership with the broader treasury organization, while executing critical treasury strategies in support of its capital structure objectives and capital markets transactions. This position reports to the Senior Treasury Director, Capital Markets & Liquidity within the corporate treasury team and has Medtronic global finance interaction, as well as partnership with our key relationship banking partners.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Provides financial analysis on global cash, interest income and interest expense activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders and supporting monthly reviews.
- Develops core competencies in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) by partnering across treasury teams to analyze, support, and present insights on Medtronic’s interest income and expense around the world.
- Maintains and creates financial models to evaluate impact of changing interest rates, as well as, evaluating share repurchase scenarios.
- Key stakeholders include Corporate FP&A, Tax, Regional Treasury, Investment Management, Foreign Exchange, External Reporting, Investor Relations.
- Supports requests and presentations on capital allocation, dividend recommendations, and share repurchase deliverables to the SVP of Treasury, CFO, and Board of Directors.
- Learns to message complex topics in an influential and concise way to help drive decisions.
- Cross trains with other team members to ensure timely reporting and analysis. Identifies and implements improvements to accounting and reporting processes.
- Supports accounting processes, oversight and audit and bank reporting requests.
- Serves as a key contact with Corporate Accounting, External Reporting and External Auditors (PWC). Ensures ongoing compliance and management of facility agreements.
- Understands key corporate finance topics such as capital allocation, liquidity, and accounting.
- Learns critical financial systems, including, SAP, CXF & CMR, and Reval systems to enhance technical skill sets to leverage data across multiple platforms.
- Develops financial and accounting knowledge to assist in the analysis to support a strong balance sheet.
- Analyzes share of wallet and global reporting to customize and create new processes as relationships and in-depth expertise is developed.
- Seeks key milestones by improving reporting to prepare presentations used to make strategic decisions.
- Networks with other Treasury teams including Foreign Exchange, Investment Management, Internal Funding and Global Cash Management to gain broader exposure of the robust treasury functions.
- Partners with internal teams including Global FP&A, External Reporting, Accounting, Tax, Audit, and Investor Relations to understand the broader impact treasury has on strategic decisions.
- Develops relationships and understanding of our key banking partners.
- Learns how Board level decisions are made while working on strategies to help improve the strength of Medtronic’s balance sheet.
- Develops partnerships with some of our key external stakeholders, including global banking partners, rating agencies and fixed income investors.
- Help tell the narrative of why the Treasury team is recommending solutions and creating strategic plans through concise presentations, projects, and emails.
- Participates in creating presentations for Treasury and finance leadership by using analytical skills to highlight key variances effecting global liquidity.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 0 years)
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's in Finance, Economics or Accounting
- Modeling experience
- Excel and Power BI skills
