What are the responsibilities and job description for the Policy Analyst position at MELE Associates, Inc.?

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Office of Nonproliferation Policy (NA-244). This full-time position is contingent upon client approval. 

The successful candidate will perform the following essential functions:

  • Provided overall support to the Policy Office.
  • Provide technical analysis to support restricting transfers of sensitive nuclear technologies, supporting multilateral efforts on assured fuel supply, and compiling lists of sensitive nuclear technologies for outreach to unwitting suppliers.
  • Effectively and systematically coordinate efforts with appropriate offices in DOE/NNSA, the US interagency, and with foreign partners.
  • Complete timely policy and technical analysis that may contribute to control list changes.
  • Support headquarters officials to address competing and time sensitive taskings and deadlines, while also supporting the information analysis needs of federal managers responsible for the oversight of dynamic and fast-paced programs.
  • Interact with other U.S. departments and agencies, the public, multilateral organizations, and foreign government agencies concerning effective means to implement governmental regulations and requirements.
  • Manage national laboratory activities that support the incumbent’s primary and related duties. 
  • Support other NPAC and NA-244 duties, to the extent that the primary duties are not impacted, and the incumbent’s expertise can be effectively utilized.
  • Build an understanding of evolving policy considerations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum education level Masters Degree
  • Active DOE Q Clearance 
  • 2 years practical professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of NNSA's nonproliferation activities
  • Ability to work effectively with other DOE offices as well as other organizations
  • Knowledge of basic program management skills 

  • Must be a self-starter with excellent writing and verbal communication skills and strong organizational and time management skills
