Job Summary:
We are searching for an Associate Buyer to support our Global Sourcing department. This role will be responsible for coordinating and communicating packaging, delivery, and quality requirements to vendors to ensure availability of products, supporting the customer forecast. MRP evaluation and issuance of purchase orders will be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Computer related skills (Excel, Word, Access) and ability to prepare spreadsheets and cost analysis reports
- Understand and analyze MRP requirements and place purchase orders
- Ability to analyze situations, identify and address solutions
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with suppliers from overseas to achieve results
- React and resolve material-related shortfalls & communicate with Global Sourcing, Customer Service and Sales department
- Knowledge and support of inventory management goals
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities
- Support New Product Criteria Sheet (NPCS) process and ensure accuracy of data in ERP/LX
- Identify part shortages and purchase order requirements
- Coordinate factory evaluation, product testing and documentation related to direct import shipments
- Communicate delivery requirements to suppliers
- Maintain inventory levels
- Manage delivery requirements & schedules
- Support Department cost savings goals
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy of data in LX ERP specific to material lead-times, prices, & vendor information
- Evaluate supplier performance annually
- Assist with new item set up and approval
- Sourcing domestic suppliers for price and service
- Process internal purchases for all departments
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in purchasing, planning, and/or logistics; OR High school diploma with 5 years of work experience in purchasing, planning, and /or logistics; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that may be combined to satisfy the minimum qualifications for this position.
Work Environment:
- The performance of this position requires exposure to the warehouse, which requires employees to wear closed toe shoes in designated areas.
- The individual is exposed to a typical office environment with ambient room temperature, lighting, and traditional office equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Individuals may be required to reach above shoulder height, below waist or lift as required to file documents or to reach for product throughout the workday; lifting will include up to 25 pounds. Proper lifting techniques are required.
