What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriting Operations Internship position at MEMIC?

MEMIC’s Summer Internship Program identifies college students who want real-world experience that will allow them to gain valuable knowledge and skills within their field of study. This is a paid internship that can also be credited towards the student’s degree. The program will last 11 weeks, beginning on June 6th and ending on August 19th. This opportunity will be full-time (37.5 hours per week).
MEMIC is working to implement a new policy administration system. The Underwriting Operations Intern will assist with data validation, system testing, data clean up, process documentation, and other tasks related to the project.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Validates assigned sets of data by comparing the legacy system data to the data as it appears in the new system. Tracks any defects/errors in the data, completes the required documentation, works with manager to report appropriately, and retests as needed.
- Tests functionality by following provided documentation and ensuring that the desired results are achieved. If defects/errors are found, the intern will follow procedures for reporting and resolution.
- Reviews data sets that may need investigation and/or correction of data.
- Prepares system and process documentation for User Training and Go-Live readiness.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Systems or other related fields.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work with a team.
