JOB SUMMARY
Provides general assistance to the accounting department through account analysis, monthly journal entries, preparation of various analytical reports, the budget process. Specific responsibility for preparing month end financials, monthly reconciliations, assist in cost accounting and tax return preparations, and works yearly on audit process while upholding the mission and values established by Memorial Healthcare. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare month end financial packet and schedules.
- Input and upkeep of Productivity Schedule.
- Assist with Senior Accountants on special projects as needed.
- Assist Leadership in pulling of financials and detail from general ledger.
- Assists Reimbursement with document requests or schedules as requested.
- Assist in State Audits, Cost Reports, and Tax Returns.
- Produce financial analysis reports as requested.
- Assist with external audit schedules and data request.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
- Maintains quality in all tasks assigned.
- Completes all tasks accurately within specified deadlines.
- Must be able to work with a flexible work schedule when needed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards and the code of ethical behavior.
- Complete adhoc financial analysis and reports as needed.
- Periodic reconciliation of key general ledger accounts at the request of the Director of Finance.
- Assist with process improvement, internal control, and risk mitigation for all health system entities.
- Provides assistance in accounting areas as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting required.
EXPERIENCE
- Five years of accounting experience is required.
- Five years of automated general ledger, spreadsheets and word processing applications is required.
- Hospital or other healthcare experience is preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Working in an Accounting Department as an Accountant handling cash activity – posting and reconciling cash.
- Maintaining Fixed Asset System, Capital Inventory, Capital Budget Reporting, - posting journal entries and reconciling capital expenditures.
- Understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, IRS guidelines, healthcare finance issues, effective communication techniques both written and verbal, stress management and skills for dealing with complex issues.
- Knowledgeable and strong in oral and written communication.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in an effective and timely manner.
- Ability to articulate and demonstrate commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of the organization.
