JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for the protection of property, the safety of visitors, patients and employees, and keeping the peace. Security officer will maintain open lines of communications with his supervisors and safety monitors. The Security Officer will effectively assist all departments with daily operations such as providing key service, wheelchair service, transport service, greeting air transport and EMS units. Reports to court hearings on campus with detention patients, and provide security for the proceedings.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Required: One year security experience or law enforcement background, working in hospital setting or familiarity with Verbal de-escalation and controlling and restraining patients. Experience with behavior health patients in a hospital setting is preferred. Combinations of experiences as stated above will be considered.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer. Knowledge: of security equipment, restraints, handcuffs and the ability to effectively use this equipment on the job is essential. Performs duties independently with minimal supervision. Generates daily shift reports and Incident reports when necessary. Provides detention patient status and all patient changes to Security Supervisor, Security Director and to the on-coming shift. Decisions of routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies, and procedures.
