POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Director will help people find and follow Jesus through telling the story of what God is doing in and through Menlo Church. Using strategic planning and leadership, the communications director will ensure the vision of Menlo Church is being communicated through every possible facet. The Communications Director will understand how to effectively communicate the vision of Menlo to our internal audience and external audience in ways that attract and engage people.
The Communications Director will support and oversee the Film and Video Director and the Graphics Design Director ensuring creative excellence and alignment with storytelling.
The Communications Director will report to the Creative Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work as a cohesive unit with our Creative Team.
Coach and equip Film and Video Director and Graphic Design Director in volunteer development. Assist with gathering volunteers across campuses.
Lead, encourage, and develop volunteers through 1:1 and group interactions and through Menlo’s leadership pipeline.
Manage scheduling and communication with volunteers utilizing Planning Center.
Tell the story of Menlo Church, celebrating the great things God is doing.
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the church
Manage Central communications, including email newsletters, social media accounts, website content, app, press releases, apparel, and other relevant channels
Manage Menlo brand with consistent visual aesthetic and style guide.
Work with ministry leaders to ensure that communication efforts are aligned with the church's overall goals and objectives.
Create and manage a content calendar to ensure a consistent and timely flow of communication
Standardize messaging across all platforms: online, print, and in person.
Oversee the production of all communication materials, including print and digital content.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather impactful stories from the people of Menlo Church and create a system for consistent storytelling to share with Menlo and the Bay Area.
Establish communication plans for sensitive issues like crisis communications, staff changes, etc.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with members of the media and act as a spokesperson for the church when necessary
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies as needed.
Stay up-to-date on communication trends and technologies and suggest new ways to improve the church's communication efforts.
Participate in weekly creative team meetings.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships by living out our staff values.
Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Creative Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
Demonstrated ability recruiting, training, & developing volunteer teams
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications or marketing, preferably in a church or non-profit organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communication strategies across multiple channels.
Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
Demonstrated commitment to the church's mission and values
Preferred Education and Experience
Multisite church experience a plus
Familiarity with Menlo Church

Work Conditions
This position typically operates in a professional office or church environment with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, and telephones
This position works in a setting with lots of large and small equipment, cables, stage lights, and other visual stimuli
Days of work are typically Sunday-Thursday with occasional Friday, Saturday, and evenings, as needed
